Our Ingredients

We feel strongly about what’s in the products our dogs consume and what goes on their fluff and fur (which, let’s be honest, with dogs are often the same thing). At Apawthecary, we only use ingredients we know are safe and effective. Here’s a list of what’s gotten a “good boy!” from us.

Apple Peel Powder (Organic)
Apple skins contain soluble fibre that is essential for good digestion and elimination of toxins. They also contain vitamins A, K and C that support a dog's vision, skin, immunity, ability to repair cellular damage, help relieve allergies and reduce inflammation. The apple peel powder used in our Allergy Support is made from certified organic dried apple peels that contains up to 6x more antioxidants compared to the inside flesh of the apple.

Beetroot Powder (GMO-free)
Beetroot is a powerful superfood which is high in folate, magnesium, potassium, iron and vitamin C. It can improve your dog's blood flow, boost their immune system, improve digestion and promote healthy skin and coat. It's an all-natural solution for itching, skin irritations, seasonal allergies, dry skin and dull coat.

Blueberry Powder (Organic)
Our blueberry powder is made from organic, wild, freeze-dried blueberries. It is a powerful antioxidant that helps improve gut health, supports liver and urinary tract health and boosts the immune system while adding potassium, fibre and Vitamin C to your dogs diet.

Chia Seed Oil (Organic)
Chia Seed Oil consists of the perfect 3:1 ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 Essential Fatty Acids required for optimum skin health. Chia Seed oil is a rich source of antioxidants and phytonutrients. It is an ideal moisturizer as it reduces the water loss by protecting skin's moisture barrier.

Chia Seeds (Organic)
Chia seeds are an excellent source of B vitamins and they're rich in omega 3 fatty acids, antioxidants, fibre and minerals such as calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. They are known to help improve a dog's immune system, digestion, skin & coat, brain function and joint health.

Cinnamon (Organic)
Cinnamon has powerful anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. It helps prevent degenerative diseases, helps relieve the symptoms of arthritis, strengthens the immune system, supports brain and gut health and stimulates circulation.

Coco Glucoside (Organic)
Coco Glucoside is a foaming, cleansing, conditioning, and viscosity building agent to liquid cleansers and/or shampoos. The raw materials used are of vegetable origin (coconut and palm kernel oil, glucose). It is completely biodegradable, GMO-free and contains no parabens and phthalates.

Coconut Oil (Organic)
Coconut oil helps alleviate irritating skin conditions. It adds a sheen to your pup’s fur while alleviating dry/itchy skin. It's been known to help skin conditions such as hot spots, bites and stings.

Colloidal Oatmeal (Organic)
Colloidal Oatmeal moisturizes dry and problem skin. This Colloidal Oatmeal is GMO-free and consists of key components such as beta glucan and avenanthramides, which act as natural, deep penetrating moisturizers that reduce the itching caused by dry skin. It increases a shampoo lather and gently removes dirt/oil while soothing irritated skin.

Colloidal Silver 10ppm (Organic)
Colloidal Silver has been used to help fight bacterial infections for thousands of years. It is mostly known for its topical application on skin infections and wounds.

Dandelion Hydrosol (Organic, Alcohol-free)
Dandelion hydrosol is prepared by distillation from freshly cut dandelion roots, stems, leaves, and flowers of the dandelion plant. It helps promote healing of abscesses, sores, cuts and abrasions.

Essential Oils
Pure essential oils are known for their antibacterial, anti-fungal, and/or anti-viral properties and many (the ones we use) are beneficial to dogs in small doses. The essential oils used in our products are 100% pure.

Guar Gum (Organic)

Organic guar gum is a product made from the seeds of the guar plant. It has exceptional properties as a stabilizer and is used widely in food production. We use a very minimal amount as a natural, food grade preservative to keep our supplement powders shelf stable.

Hemp Hearts (Organic)
Organic Hemp hearts are a good food source for dogs since they are rich in omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids, complete proteins and fibre. They consist of antioxidants that help reduce inflammation, reduce joint pain, reduce blood sugar and improve skin and coat health.

Hemp Seed Butter (Organic)
Hemp seed butter has the same characteristics as hemp seed oil, except that it is created by blending Hemp Seed Oil with non-GMO Soy Butter to produce a buttery material that is exceptionally rich in essential fatty acids.

Hemp Seed Oil (Organic)
Hemp Seed Oil is produced from the oil of one of the world’s most nutritious seeds, which is from the hemp plant Cannabis sativa. Hemp Seed Oil soothes and alleviates dry skin. It contributes greatly to protecting the skin’s moisture barrier, improving the texture of skin. It is rich in minerals, Omega 3, Omega 6 and it also has a full amino acid spectrum, containing all of the 21 known amino acids.

Lavender (Organic)
Lavender has anti-bacterial and anti-itch properties. It is an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and soothing. It is also calming and helpful for dogs who are stressed at bath time. Lavender helps soothe an anxious dog while the healing properties will hydrate dry/itchy skin.

Manuka Honey (Organic)
Manuka honey has antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties that help accelerate the healing process. It also quickly calms irritated areas and regulates pH levels of your dog's skin.

Natural Eggshell Membrane (Organic)
Eggshell membrane is the small, thin layer inside of the egg that is made up of 70% collagen protein. It has been clinically proven to reduce pain and improve function in dogs suffering with joint problems (published in the Journal of Veterinary Medicine, Research & Reports).

Potassium oleate, Potassium cocoate, Potassium citrate, Glycerin, Citric Acid (Soap Base, Organic)
This is a natural and organic soap base made from saponified organic oils of Coconut and Sunflower. This base will not dry out the skin and provides gentle cleansing action that is suitable for dogs with sensitive skin. Contains no surfactants, parabens, sulfates (SLS & SLES), glycols, phthalates, or mineral oil compounds.

Pumpkin Seeds (Organic)
Loaded with fibre and a healthy dose of protein, pumpkin seeds pack a powerful nutritional punch. They are an excellent source of antioxidants, omega 3, iron, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, folic acid and vitamin A. They also act as a natural dewormer for intestinal parasites in dogs.

Raspberry Powder (Organic)
Raspberry powder is high in antioxidants, fibre, manganese, vitamin C & E. It has anti-inflammatory properties which helps with digestion and immunity support. 

Red Reishi Powder (Organic)
The red Reishi mushroom is another powerful antioxidant that offers many medicinal benefits. It provides immune system support, anti-inflammatory properties, protects the liver and supports kidney health. They also help to relieve allergies, control blood sugar and regulate blood pressure.

Shea Butter (Organic)
Shea Butter is known for its moisturizing and emollient properties. Rich in vitamins and fatty acids, it penetrates deeply and leaves a smooth, satiny feel to the skin.

Sunflower Seeds (Organic)
Sunflower seeds are a good source of fibre, protein and healthy fatty acids. They are rich in vitamins and minerals that help maintain healthy skin and coat. They also contain tryptophan which is an amino acid that assists in cognitive wellness.

Turmeric (Organic)
Turmeric is a great antioxidant that helps alleviate inflammation and pain associated with joint issues and arthritis in dogs. It also helps irritable bowel diseases since it helps break down dietary fats and it helps boost the immune system.

Witch Hazel Distillate (Organic, Alcohol-free)
Alcohol Free Witch Hazel distillate is prepared from the recently cut and partially dried, dormant twigs of the Hamamelis virginiana linn plant. Alcohol Free Witch Hazel is particularly advantageous for applications that require a sting-free, anti-irritant, soothing natural astringent.
